The deputy&#8217;s name is Paul Derrick and according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestate.com\/2013\/10\/16\/3042255\/lott-apologizes-for-deputy-who.html\">a link sent to us by Joshua<\/a> and he drives prisoners from place to place, so he&#8217;s not a real cop. But for some unknown reason, after talking with the soldier, Derrick went to his car and came back in the restaurant with his badge, gun and handcuffs and cuffed the woman for no reason; <\/p>\n<p><script type='text\/javascript' src='http:\/\/wlbt.images.worldnow.com\/interface\/js\/WNVideo.js?rnd=794501;hostDomain=www.msnewsnow.com;playerWidth=500;playerHeight=300;isShowIcon=true;clipId=9413999;flvUri=;partnerclipid=;adTag=News;advertisingZone=;enableAds=true;landingPage=;islandingPageoverride=false;playerType=STANDARD_EMBEDDEDscript;controlsType=overlay;galleryType=wnstory;galleryId=23686918'><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Well, the sheriff, Leon Lott, apologized;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> \u201cI wish I could strangle him,\u201d Richland County Leon Lott said of his ex-deputy, 14-year-employee Paul Derrick.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, said Lott, that would be improper, so \u201cI will do everything I can to make sure he never works in law enforcement again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lott fired Derrick, 49, on Tuesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It also seems that Derrick&#8217;s claim that he&#8217;s a former Marine was false, too;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Although Derrick told the woman during the incident he was a Marine, Lott said there was nothing in Derrick\u2019s record to indicate he had ever been a Marine.<\/p>\n<p>Derrick is a retired Columbia firefighter who works for the sheriff\u2019s office as \u201ca paddy wagon driver\u201d transporting prisoners, Lott said. Although Derrick had some disciplinary problems in his past, none approached the severity of this incident, Lott said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s a real smooth line he&#8217;s got there for picking up women in bars.
