{"id":37905,"date":"2013-10-09T11:45:25","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T15:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=37905"},"modified":"2013-10-09T11:45:25","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T15:45:25","slug":"dc-police-help-feinstein-hinder-republicans-in-gun-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=37905","title":{"rendered":"DC police help Feinstein, hinder Republicans in gun debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emily Miller at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2013\/oct\/9\/miller-how-a-senator-got-her-guns-for-a-dc-show-an\/\">Washington Times<\/a> writes today about her investigation about how Senator Dianne Feinstein got semi-automatic scary black rifles into a Senate hearing on gun control legislation earlier this year. From Miller&#8217;s FOIA;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Lobbyist Chuck DeWitt emailed Chief Lanier on Christmas Eve last year. \u201cSen. Feinstein has asked us to bring examples of assault weapons used in the worst incidents over the past few years.\u201d The CEO of the Lafayette Group told the chief that the guns would be put on display at a media event and asked, \u201cCould you put me in touch with your person who would have any of these weapons?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chief Lanier\u2019s response was not turned over. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The police department got her the weapons and recommended that she get those scary black rifles, which are illegal in the District, zip-tied to a display board so that the police department could deny charges that Feinstein actually took possession of the rifles, refering to the David Gregory dust-up when the reporter had a restricted magazine in the District.<\/p>\n<p>The following week, Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham asked the MPD for the same consideration;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A week after Mrs. Feinstein\u2019s publicity stunt, Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina were refused permission to bring a hunting rifle and an AR-style rifle to the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Mrs. Feinstein\u2019s \u201cassault weapon\u201d ban.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican senators sent a letter of complaint to committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy, but were still forced to use just a photo of a standard wooden hunting rifle with a plastic pistol grip at the hearing in order to demonstrate that simply adding the ergonomic feature transformed the gun into one that would be illegal under her ban. <\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Feinstein\u2019s staff gloated: \u201cI was gratified to hear Sens.
