{"id":37137,"date":"2013-08-17T15:05:31","date_gmt":"2013-08-17T19:05:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=37137"},"modified":"2013-08-17T17:42:39","modified_gmt":"2013-08-17T21:42:39","slug":"angels-and-oxcarts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=37137","title":{"rendered":"Angels and Oxcarts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aviation and intel buffs probably already know what this article is about from the title.<\/p>\n<p>The GMU National Security Archive has posted a fascinating declassified document released earlier this year by the CIA.\u00a0 It deals with the U2 and its successor, the A-12.<\/p>\n<p>The document is huge (390+ pages), and appears to have minimal redaction.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested can <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.gwu.edu\/~nsarchiv\/NSAEBB\/NSAEBB434\/\">view the document in PDF format here<\/a>.\u00a0 Unfortunately, you&#8217;ll have to use torrent to download the whole document at once, or you&#8217;ll have to download the chapters individually.<\/p>\n<p>For those who didn&#8217;t already know:\u00a0 &#8220;Angel&#8221; was Kelly Johnson&#8217;s in-house (e.g., Skunk Works) name for the U2.\u00a0 &#8220;Oxcart&#8221; was the name given by the CIA to the project that developed the successor to the U-2, the A-12.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re drawing a blank on &#8220;A-12&#8221; &#8211; that was the initial, single-seat version of an airframe better known today as the SR-71.<\/p>\n<p>Amazing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aviation and intel buffs probably already know what this article is about from the title.
