the Xbox One.\u00a0 Some of its new \u201cfeatures\u201d are nothing short of a swift kick in the \u201cpackage\u201d for military gamers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stationed somewhere with spotty Internet connectivity?\u00a0 Well, you can still use your Xbox One \u2013 for all of 24 hours.\u00a0 After that, you\u2019ll need to wait until you can reconnect to the Internet to use it again.<\/li>\n<li>Stationed overseas and get a new game mailed to you from someone in CONUS?\u00a0 Sorry.\u00a0 Games will be region-locked, and can only be activated in the region in which they\u2019re designated.\u00a0 You\u2019ll have to wait until you get back to the US to play that one.<\/li>\n<li>Stationed in Japan, Kuwait, or Afghanistan?\u00a0 Again \u2013 sorry.\u00a0 You can only use that new Xbox \u00a0One in the 21 countries included in Microsoft\u2019s Xbox server network.\u00a0 If you\u2019re elsewhere, that\u2019s just too bad.<\/li>\n<li>Oh, and the built-in microphone?\u00a0 It <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">cannot<\/span> be turned off.\u00a0 Security folks shipboard are gonna just love that one!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Microsoft says they \u201cempathize\u201d.\u00a0 And they do have a work around for those in the military who, you know, deploy.\u00a0 According to Don Mattrick, President of Microsoft\u2019s Interactive Entertainment Division, \u201cFortunately we have a product for people who aren\u2019t able to get some form of connectivity, it\u2019s called Xbox 360.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right, folks:\u00a0 Microsoft\u2019s \u201cmilitary friendly\u201d solution is to continue to use their older, soon-to-be-obsolete-and-unsupported product.<\/p>\n<p>I wish I was kidding above \u2013 <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/article\/20130614\/OFFDUTY02\/306140030\/New-Xbox-sin-against-all-service-members-\">but I\u2019m not<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not a gamer.\u00a0 But many soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines are.\u00a0 And this action by Microsoft \u2013 and their truly crappy attitude here &#8211; is a slap in the fact to all military gamers.<\/p>\n<p>Mattrick\u2019s e-mail address appears to be\u00a0 \u201c <b>donm@microsoft.com<\/b> \u201c. \u00a0\u00a0His boss is Steve Ballmer; his e-mail address appears to be \u201c <b>SteveB@microsoft.com \u201c<\/b>.\u00a0 Perhaps they\u2019d like to hear from military gamers what they think about the new Microsoft Xbox One.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Added by Sporkmaster:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh and it seems that it is getting worse for Microsoft when it turns out that the Demos for the Xbox One at the E3 convention were being run on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.critiques4geeks.com\/2013\/06\/17\/gaming-microsoft-ran-their-e3-demos-with-pcs-instead-of-xbox-one-dev-kits\/\">high end PCs<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has unveiled its follow-on to the Xbox 360 &#8211;
