{"id":35899,"date":"2013-05-31T06:25:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-31T10:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=35899"},"modified":"2013-05-31T08:58:06","modified_gmt":"2013-05-31T12:58:06","slug":"irs-scandal-update-31-may-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35899","title":{"rendered":"IRS Scandal Update &#8211; 31 May 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another periodic update on that seemingly-endless IRS scandal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The former IRS Commissioner at the heart of the scandal, Douglas Shulman, <a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2013\/05\/29\/irss-shulman-had-more-public-white-house-visits-than-any-cabinet-member\/\">met with the POTUS a minimum of 157 times<\/a> before he <del>was \u201cfired\u201d due to the scandal<\/del> left office.\u00a0 This is almost twice as many times as the POTUS met with any other Cabinet official during that same period.\u00a0 (Shulman\u2019s boss, Treasury Secretary Gertner, met with the POTS less than 50 times during the same period; the Attorney General, Eric Holder, only 62 times.)\u00a0 \u00a0In contrast, the previous IRS Commissioner met <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>once<\/em><\/span> with the previous POTUS in four years.\u00a0 That&#8217;s one helluva lot of meetings. I wonder what they talked about?<\/li>\n<li>There are indications that <a href=\"http:\/\/freebeacon.com\/irs-crosses-green-line\/\">at least five pro-Israel groups may have been targeted for IRS \u201cattention\u201d<\/a> for political reasons \u2013 specifically, because they disagreed with the current Administration regarding aspects of US policy towards Israel.<\/li>\n<li>It also is looking as if the IRS may well have targeted conservative groups and individuals more broadly than previously thought.\u00a0 Substantial anecdotal evidence is now appearing that tends to support this theory.\u00a0 Further, the Treasury Department IG official investigating the matter <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/2013\/05\/30\/192616\/irs-may-have-targeted-conservatives.html\">\u201crecently acknowledged that he\u2019s looking into other watch lists created by IRS employees.\u201d<\/a><\/li>\n<li>And, finally:\u00a0 the IRS <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/irs-agent-at-center-of-tea-party-probe-promoted\/article\/2530811\">appears to have promoted one of those \u201crogue\u201d employees directly involved<\/a> in the political targeting of conservative groups.\u00a0 Hey, that\u2019s some serious discipline for violating the law!\u00a0 That will certainly teach him a lesson!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gee \u2013 &#8220;watch lists&#8221; made up of people who would get additional IRS &#8220;attention&#8221; because they oppose the \u00a0POTUS or his policies.\u00a0 That sounds familiar . . . where have I heard of that before?\u00a0 What was it called . . . ?<\/p>\n<p>Oh yeah &#8211;\u00a0 I remember.\u00a0 That was about 40 years ago.\u00a0 It was called the President&#8217;s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nixon%27s_Enemies_List\">enemies list<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But remember:\u00a0 nothing to see here, folks; move along.\u00a0 &#8220;Pay no attention to the man behind the screen.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another periodic update on that seemingly-endless IRS scandal: The former IRS Commissioner at the heart of &hellip; <a title=\"IRS Scandal Update &#8211; 31 May 2013\" class=\"hm-read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35899\"><span class=\"screen-reader-text\">IRS Scandal Update &#8211; 31 May 2013<\/span>Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":623,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[213,185,5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-35899","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-your-tax-dollars-at-work","category-crime","category-politics"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35899","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/623"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=35899"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35899\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=35899"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=35899"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=35899"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
