{"id":35757,"date":"2013-05-22T06:30:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-22T10:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=35757"},"modified":"2013-05-22T23:45:19","modified_gmt":"2013-05-23T03:45:19","slug":"irs-scandal-update-22-may-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35757","title":{"rendered":"IRS Scandal Update &#8211; 22 May 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A quick update on events in the ongoing IRS scandal over the last few days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ex-head of the IRS personally knew that conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status were being discriminated against by IRS officials <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/post-politics\/wp\/2013\/05\/21\/internal-irs-probe-cited-same-problems-with-approach-to-conservative-groups-in-may-2012-house-aide-says\/\">roughly a year before the matter became public<\/a>, and apparently did nothing of significance.<\/li>\n<li>The discrimination against conservative groups <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/how-the-irs-seeded-the-clouds-in-2010-for-a-political-deluge-three-years-later\/2013\/05\/19\/b707d940-bf10-11e2-97d4-a479289a31f9_story.html\">apparently began in 2010<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The POTUS <a href=\"http:\/\/spectator.org\/archives\/2013\/05\/20\/obama-and-the-irs-the-smoking\">met personally with the head of the NTEU<\/a> on 31 Mar 2010 \u2013 about the time that the unlawful bias against conservative organizations by the IRS began.\u00a0 The NTEU\u2019s PAC reportedly contributed heavily to anti-Tea Party candidates in both 2010 and 2012.<\/li>\n<li>And, finally:\u00a0 the head of the IRS Tax-Exempt Division will reportedly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2013\/05\/22\/top-irs-official-to-invoke-fifth-amendment-wednesday-in-house-hearing\/\">invoke the 5th Amendment<\/a> when called to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about the matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And don&#8217;t blame the Administration for this unethical and unlawful mess.\u00a0 According to Democratic lawmakers on the Senate Finance Committee, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2013\/may\/21\/senators-hit-irs-failure-disclose-tea-party-target\/\">an ambiguous tax code is to blame<\/a> for the IRS selectively targeting the Administration&#8217;s political opponents here.\u00a0 By that logic, I guess the tax code must also be to blame for giving the Administration&#8217;s political allies and the POTUS&#8217;s relatives expedited approvals.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing to see here, folks.\u00a0 Move along.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, right.\u00a0 What\u2019s next &#8211; are we going to see a prominent Administration official coming out and saying publicly, \u201c<em>I am not a crook<\/em>\u201d?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A quick update on events in the ongoing IRS scandal over the last few days: The &hellip; <a title=\"IRS Scandal Update &#8211; 22 May 2013\" class=\"hm-read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35757\"><span class=\"screen-reader-text\">IRS Scandal Update &#8211; 22 May 2013<\/span>Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":623,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[213,185,5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-35757","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-your-tax-dollars-at-work","category-crime","category-politics"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35757","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/623"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=35757"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35757\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=35757"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=35757"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=35757"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
