{"id":35654,"date":"2013-05-16T11:00:04","date_gmt":"2013-05-16T15:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=35654"},"modified":"2013-05-16T10:04:03","modified_gmt":"2013-05-16T14:04:03","slug":"mandatory-overtime-for-va-claims-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35654","title":{"rendered":"Mandatory overtime for VA claims workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According\u00a0to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/05\/15\/department-of-veterans-affairs-overtime_n_3280647.html\" target=\"_blank\">Huffington Post<\/a>, the Department of Veterans Affairs will require at least 10,000 claims workers to work at least 20 hours of overtime each month until September.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We need to surge our resources now to help those who have waited the longest and end the backlog,&#8221; said Allison Hickey, undersecretary for benefits at the VA.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems they might finally be getting tired of all the recent negative attention and may actually start putting some effort into their job &#8230; or they realized they completely blew the 2015 deadline and are doing everything they can to minimize the pain they are going to feel when they fail.<\/p>\n<p>The most important thing the VA needs to remember while working these claims is that they aren&#8217;t just paper packets &#8230; these are people &#8211; whom are represented by those packets, and often, people in a lot of pain and a very bad point in their life.
