{"id":35198,"date":"2013-04-19T15:54:02","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T19:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=35198"},"modified":"2013-04-19T15:54:10","modified_gmt":"2013-04-19T19:54:10","slug":"but-if-they-mean-to-have-a-war-let-it-begin-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35198","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;. . .  but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">An astute TAH reader (Roger in Republic<cite><\/cite>) reminded me today that today also marks a second important military anniversary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Two hundred thirty-eight years ago today &#8211; at approximately 0500 &#8211; the opening shots of the American Revolution were fired at Lexington, MA.\u00a0 Action quickly followed at Concord.<\/p>\n<p>The skirmish at Lexington was a debacle for the American Revolutionary force.\u00a0 At Concord, however, British forces made a serious tactical error at North Bridge, found themselves outnumbered, and broke.<\/p>\n<p>British forces shortly afterwards retreated to Boston, suffering many casualties on the way &#8211; particularly at skirmishes at Bloody Angle and Menotomy.<\/p>\n<p>Lexington\/Concord is generally accorded a victory for the Colonial forces.
