His parents nominated him for a local hero award from the Red Cross which led to his mates finding out about his lies and calling him out. Here&#8217;s the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kget.com\/mostpopular\/story\/Soldiers-hoax-Real-Hero-honoree-lied-about-service\/_2sxCf1ct0qnv5GOgw__Yw.cspx\">local news story<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"http:\/\/eplayer.clipsyndicate.com\/embed\/iframe?aspect_ratio=3x2&#038;auto_next=1&#038;auto_start=0&#038;page_count=5&#038;pf_id=9200&#038;pl_id=21515&#038;rel=3&#038;show_title=0&#038;tags=9597&#038;va_id=4014872&#038;volume=8&#038;windows=1\" width=\"425\" height=\"330\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Apparently, according to the person who sent this to us, Henn was on rear detachment and stayed behind at Fort Carson while his squad deployed;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I sincerely regret that Bryan has besmirched their integrity and their honor, all our military women and men, especially those who have served in harms way and those who were wounded in action, those who have died,&#8221; said Darlene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can only apologize for the actions of our son. I hope they take that to heart because it&#8217;s sincere from me and it&#8217;s sincere from my wife,&#8221; said Darryl.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard seeing the family go through this. They were basically humiliated by their own son at no fault of their own. We don&#8217;t blame them or anything like that. We actually feel bad for them,&#8221; said Cpl. Wesley Barrientos, retired, U.S. Army.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Good on the parents for coming clean as quickly as they did and good on KGET for making it right.
