{"id":35079,"date":"2013-04-13T06:35:48","date_gmt":"2013-04-13T10:35:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=35079"},"modified":"2013-04-13T12:40:24","modified_gmt":"2013-04-13T16:40:24","slug":"another-world-war-ii-vet-passes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=35079","title":{"rendered":"Another World War II Vet Passes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An older gentleman, aged 87, passed away on 11 April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Like many of his generation the man was a vet.\u00a0 He quit high school during his senior year, enlisted in the USMC at age 17, and spent 2 1\/2 years in the South Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>After his return from war he went to college, discovering an interest in art.\u00a0 He met his future wife; their marriage lasted until her death over 60 years later.<\/p>\n<p>He became a comic, and a damn good one, not too long afterwards.\u00a0 He spent the rest of his professional life entertaining people and trying to make people laugh.<\/p>\n<p>The man\u2019s name?\u00a0 <a href=\"\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jonathan_Winters\">Jonathan Winters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/d\/dd\/Jonathan_Winters_-_publicity.jpg\/457px-Jonathan_Winters_-_publicity.jpg\" height=\"393\" width=\"300\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Rest in peace, Jonathan Winters. Rest in peace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Added Sporkmaster: <\/strong> I think my lack of age is showing here. I was looking at his photo and it looked familiar but I could not place it. Looked him up and then I saw a much younger <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Its_a_Mad,_Mad,_Mad,_Mad_World_Trailer10.jpg\">photo of him <\/a>in the movie <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/It%27s_a_Mad,_Mad,_Mad,_Mad_World\">&#8220;It&#8217;s a Mad Mad Mad World&#8221;.<\/a> My father showed it to me when I in my early teens.
