{"id":34711,"date":"2013-03-23T14:13:02","date_gmt":"2013-03-23T18:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=34711"},"modified":"2013-03-23T14:13:02","modified_gmt":"2013-03-23T18:13:02","slug":"olympus-has-fallen-director-a-proud-patriot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=34711","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Olympus Has Fallen&#8217; director a proud patriot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2013\/mar\/22\/olympus-has-fallen-director-antoine-fuqua-us-flag-\/\">The Washington Times<\/a> reports that the director of the new movie &#8220;Olympus Has Fallen&#8221;, Antoine Fuqua, is something of a rarity in Hollywood &#8211; a US patriot;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThat flag is supposed to represent freedom,\u201d said director Antoine Fuqua last week in an interview with The Washington Times. \u201cSo why not wave it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hear people sometimes say some negative things. \u2018Eh, America\u2019 \u2014\u201d Mr. Fuqua said, making a dismissive sound. \u201cI just call bull on it. I\u2019m patriotic. This country gave opportunity to everybody. It\u2019s supposed to be the melting pot of the world. The flag is a representation of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong with being patriotic. People sometimes get so cynical \u2014 they\u2019re like, \u2018Ah I don\u2019t want to be patriotic because it\u2019s not cool.\u2019 I think it\u2019s bull. My kids have grown up here. We have freedom here.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The bad guys in the movie are North Koreans, which is kind of Hollywood&#8217;s go-to bad guys, but Fuqua says they could just as easily been Iranians. I kind of wish they were, because the North Koreans aren&#8217;t all that realistic. I don&#8217;t think they could find the White House with a GPS. Regardless, if we&#8217;re willing to boycott certain Hollywoodians for their views, I think it&#8217;s just as important to flock to the theaters for their opposite numbers.
