{"id":34605,"date":"2013-03-19T05:00:48","date_gmt":"2013-03-19T09:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=34605"},"modified":"2013-03-20T11:43:15","modified_gmt":"2013-03-20T15:43:15","slug":"a-spreadsheet-from-hell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=34605","title":{"rendered":"Spreadsheet from Hell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You often hear the term &#8220;&lt;whatever&gt; from hell&#8221; used to refer to things that are unusually disagreeable or difficult.\u00a0 But on occasion, the phrase is chillingly apropos &#8211; and literal.<\/p>\n<p>Consider Adam Lanza, Sandy Hook mass murderer.\u00a0 He was obviously mentally disturbed.\u00a0 But he could be meticulous about things that interested him.<\/p>\n<p>How meticulous?\u00a0 Try conducting extensive research on past mass-killings &#8211; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2013\/03\/18\/sandy-hook-gunman-reportedly-compiled-massive-spreadsheet-on-previous-killings\/\">creating a spreadsheet containing information about over 500 people killed in such incidents<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Lanza&#8217;s research was both extensive and detailed, including such things as the number of people killed in an incident, their names, and the weapons that were used \u2013 down to the precise make\/model of the weapons in some cases.<\/p>\n<p>The spreadsheet, printed in 9-point type, would have measured <em>approx 7 feet long and 4 feet wide<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Why did he do this?\u00a0 Simple.\u00a0 Lanza was off-his-nut\u00a0<em>full-blown<\/em> <em>batshit<\/em> <em>crazy<\/em>. That was obvious to many who knew him, including his own mother.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, there was also intellect behind and a method to Lanza&#8217;s madness.\u00a0 According to an unidentified career law enforcement official who attended last week\u2019s International Association of Police Chiefs and Colonels mid-year meeting in New Orleans:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey don\u2019t believe this was just a spreadsheet. They believe it was a score sheet.\u00a0 This was the work of a video gamer, and that it was his intent to put his own name at the very top of that list. <i>They believe that he picked an elementary school because he felt it was a point of least resistance, where he could rack up the greatest number of kills.<\/i> That\u2019s what (the Connecticut police) believe.\u201d\u00a0 (emphasis added)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gee \u2013 he chose a school because it was a \u201cpoint of least resistance\u201d.\u00a0 That sounds\u00a0 suspiciously like the police think he chose a school <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">precisely because<\/span> it was something called a \u201cgun free zone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Just think about the implications of that fact, liberal ideologues:\u00a0 along with Lanza, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span><\/em> are to blame for this massacre.\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>You<\/em><\/span> helped him do this.\u00a0 And I\u2019m going to tell you how you did that two different ways.<\/p>\n<p>First:\u00a0 <i>you<\/i> are the ones who pushed for laws making many public places \u201cgun free zones\u201d where weapons are &#8220;prohibited&#8221;.\u00a0 Well, guess what \u2013 you got precisely what you asked for.\u00a0 Schools in Connecticut are indeed &#8220;gun free zones&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But as Lanza\u2019s twisted act shows, the term \u201cgun free zone\u201d is nothing but a politically palatable way to say &#8220;undefended&#8221; or \u201csoft target\u201d.\u00a0 Had even <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">one<\/span> person at that school been armed, there\u2019s a reasonable chance the death total would have been far fewer than 26.\u00a0 But because it was a \u201cgun free zone\u201d, no one there was armed &#8211; except Lanza.<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0 Because other than Lanza, everyone else there were sane, law-abiding citizens.\u00a0 They obeyed the law.<\/p>\n<p>Lanza wasn\u2019t sane.\u00a0 And as events prove, Lanza didn\u2019t give a damn about the law.<\/p>\n<p>The result?\u00a0 25 innocents killed by a madman before police could arrive. And when finally confronted by a <em>bona fide<\/em> threat to himself, Lanza committed suicide rather than engage that threat.<\/p>\n<p>Second:\u00a0 you leftist ideologues are also the ones who rammed through \u201cmainstreaming\u201d of the seriously mentally ill \u2013 because you felt incarceration would be \u201ca violation of their rights\u201d.\u00a0 But did you stop to think about the ramifications of doing that?\u00a0 Or consider that sometimes selected persons <em>need<\/em> to be involuntarily institutionalized for both their own good and the good of the community?\u00a0 No.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, legal changes were proposed in the Connecticut legislature that would have allowed involuntary commitment of profoundly disturbed people like Lanza.\u00a0 Indeed, at the time of Lanza\u2019s murders <em>his own mother<\/em> knew he was seriously disturbed, and was actively trying to have him committed.\u00a0 <em>But she couldn\u2019t.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Why not?\u00a0 Because you liberal ideologues held fast to your misguided beliefs.\u00a0 The liberal-dominated Connecticut state legislature (60+% liberal Democratic majorities in both chambers) voted down failed to pass those changes to Connecticut law that would allow involuntary commitment under circumstances like Lanza&#8217;s.\u00a0 Under Connecticut law then in effect (and still in effect today), it\u2019s virtually impossible for an adult to be involuntarily committed in Connecticut before they commit a violent act &#8211; no matter how blatantly crazy they are.<\/p>\n<p>Want to see who (besides Lanza) is to blame for his killing spree, liberals?\u00a0<em> Look in the mirror.<\/em>\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t the gun Lanza used that\u2019s to blame.\u00a0 And it wasn&#8217;t law-abiding gun owners, either.\u00a0 Rather, <em>your<\/em> misguided policies are what helped cost those 20 kids and 5 innocent adults their lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You often hear the term &#8220;&lt;whatever&gt; from hell&#8221; used to refer to things that are unusually &hellip; <a title=\"Spreadsheet from Hell\" class=\"hm-read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=34605\"><span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Spreadsheet from Hell<\/span>Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":623,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[156,15],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-34605","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-guns","category-legal"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/34605","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/623"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=34605"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/34605\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=34605"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=34605"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=34605"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
