Been a bit since I\u2019ve posted anything about our \u201cgood friend\u201d and Communist<\/del> leftist extraordinaire Hugo Chavez.\u00a0 So I thought today would be a good day to do that.<\/p>\n

Chavez\u2019s Vice-Dictator <\/span>President, Nicolas Maduro, continues to publicly claim<\/a> that Chavez is making a \u201cdifficult and slow recovery\u201d.\u00a0 As they have for weeks, Chavez opponents are questioning the veracity of those claims. And\u00a0Spanish newspaper ABC has added fuel to the fire by reporting that Chavez\u2019s cancer has \u201cspread to a lung\u201d<\/a> and that Chavez has been \u201cmoved to an island compound in the Caribbean\u201d.\u00a0 (ABC did not identify their sources.)<\/p>\n

(Author’s note:\u00a0 the linked ABC article is in Spanish.\u00a0 My Spanish is so rudimentary as to be virtually nonexistent, but I’m pretty sure this is the correct article – I recognize “medicos”, “isla”, and “c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas”, and I’m pretty sure that “tumoraci\u00f3n pulmonar” translates as “pulmonary tumor”.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Predictably, Maduro has castigated Chavez opponents, ABC, and a Colombian media network (Caracol) for \u201cspreading lies\u201d about Chavez\u2019s condition.\u00a0 However, Maduro hasn\u2019t been particularly consistent himself regarding Chavez\u2019s condition, either.\u00a0 Two days ago, Maduro indicated publicly that Chavez was \u201cfighting for his life\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 And he\u2019s made that same “fighting for his life” statement about Chavez previously.<\/p>\n

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Hugo.\u00a0 It appears to be preparing to toll for thee.<\/p>\n

Update:\u00a0 I found a web service to translate the ABC newspaper article<\/a>.\u00a0 That’s indeed the correct one.\u00a0 It specifically claims the new tumor is aggressive and now involves 35% of Chavez’s left lung.\u00a0 It further claims Chavez’s immune system is severely degraded; that Chavez also has abdominal metastatic lesions; that Chavez is receiving palliative care; and that he was moved to allow his family to be with him and react on short notice.<\/p>\n

If any of that is accurate, that’s not good news for Hugo.\u00a0 If all<\/span> of it is accurate, well . . . . <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
