{"id":34091,"date":"2013-02-11T10:27:47","date_gmt":"2013-02-11T14:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=34091"},"modified":"2013-02-11T10:27:47","modified_gmt":"2013-02-11T14:27:47","slug":"iran-backing-militias-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=34091","title":{"rendered":"Iran backing militias in Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of course, this shouldn&#8217;t be a surprise, given that Syria has been an ally of Iran since Desert Storm, but apparently the Iranians are supporting some pro-government militias in Syria according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/iran-hezbollah-build-militia-networks-in-syria-in-event-that-assad-falls-officials-say\/2013\/02\/10\/257a41c8-720a-11e2-ac36-3d8d9dcaa2e2_story.html?hpid=z4\">Washington Post<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A senior Obama administration official cited Iranian claims that Tehran was backing as many as 50,000 militiamen in Syria. \u201cIt\u2019s a big operation,\u201d the official said. \u201cThe immediate intention seems to be to support the Syrian regime. But it\u2019s important for Iran to have a force in Syria that is reliable and can be counted on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s strategy, a senior Arab official agreed, has two tracks. \u201cOne is to support Assad to the hilt, the other is to set the stage for major mischief if he collapses.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In related news, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2013\/feb\/11\/diplomats-say-iran-could-have-nuclear-bomb-summer\/#ixzz2KbIXLhv5\">Washington Times<\/a> reports that some folks like that Iran will have a nuclear weapon by this summer;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Associated Press reports that diplomats with knowledge of Iran\u2019s nuclear development program have found the nation developing reactor fuel with small amounts of its 20-percent uranium.
