Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy predicted to CNN that Congress is ready to pass the so-called Assault Weapon Ban says the Washington Times<\/a>. He claims that people like West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, who was previously opposed to the ban, are ready to cross over to the fascist gun grabbers’ side. Manchin, who has been squishy on guns since his reelection last November, says otherwise;<\/p>\n

… Mr. Manchin on Sunday disagreed with Mr. Murphy\u2019s assessment, saying later on \u201cState of the Union\u201d that a stand-alone ban on assault weapons \u201cwill not, in the political reality that we have today, go anywhere \u2026 it has to be comprehensive approach.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yeah, I don’t know what that means either – it sounds just like the form letter I got from him when I wrote to warn him that he’d have one more irritated constituent if he went anywhere near the Scary-Looking Weapon Ban. When I was in a local gun shop here in Mineral County last week, Manchin was the target of lots of comments. None of them positive.<\/p>\n

The NRA predicts that the Weapon Ban won’t happen according to Reuters<\/a>;<\/p>\n

National Rifle Association President David Keene signaled little appetite for compromise as the White House mulls action on gun violence after the December 14 massacre of 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school.<\/p>\n
