Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This time, it&#8217;s be the captain and some of the crew of the <em>USS Jacksonville<\/em>, an SSN (nuclear attack sub) who need to do a bit of &#8221; &#8216;splainin&#8217; &#8220;.\u00a0 Seems the <em>USS Jacksonville<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-journal.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/279506\/Hawaii-based-US-Navy-sub-damaged-in-Persian-Gulf-.html?isap=1&amp;nav=5029\">ran into something in the Persian Gulf<\/a> the other day, sustaining minor damage.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully the collision was apparently a minor \u201cbrush\u201d.\u00a0 The other vessel \u2013 believed to have been a fishing trawler &#8211; did not stop, did not indicate distress, and indeed did not even indicate it even realized there had been a mishap.\u00a0 The <em>USS Jacksonville,<\/em> however, lost one of its periscopes &#8211; which was sheared off during the collision.<\/p>\n<p>The collision occurred at 5AM local, just after the <em>USS Jacksonville<\/em> had passed through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>There were no reported deaths or injuries.\u00a0 But I\u2019d guess several careers may well end up casualties.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re thinking this sounds kinda familiar, it should.\u00a0 This is the second collision in the Persian Gulf between a US warship and a merchant vessel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=31470\">in the last five months.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This time, it&#8217;s be the captain and some of the crew of the USS Jacksonville, an &hellip; <a title=\"Somebody\u2019s Got Some &#8216;Splainin&#8217; to Do  . . .
