{"id":33287,"date":"2012-12-18T13:23:06","date_gmt":"2012-12-18T17:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=33287"},"modified":"2012-12-18T13:23:06","modified_gmt":"2012-12-18T17:23:06","slug":"africom-to-have-qrf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=33287","title":{"rendered":"AFRICOM to have QRF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I guess that the administration decided that with the Arab Spring still bubbling beneath the surface and with our embassies in the danger zone&#8230;and, oh, yeah that whole Benghazi thing&#8230;they need some armed troops to pull their fat from the political fire, so General Carter Ham, the commander of AFRICOM announced that they&#8217;ll now have a Quick Reaction Force according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/africom-announces-it-will-have-rapid-reaction-force-1.201162\">Stars &#038; Stripes<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In response to a question during a recent speech at George Washington University, AFRICOM boss Gen. Carter Ham said his command is now outfitted with a new capability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith regard to a response force, when the command was initially formed there was a sharing arrangement with what\u2019s called the Commander\u2019s in-Extremis Force with European Command. That was a good relationship that up until the 1st of October of this year was a shared arrangement,\u201d Ham said. \u201cAnd now we have our own.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>While AFRICOM says the unit will be based in Fort Carson \u2014 home to the 10th Special Forces Group \u2014 it is more likely that the team of operators will spend most of its time forward-deployed in Africa, according to a recently retired Green Beret who served on multiple Commander\u2019s in-Extremis units.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems to me that someone would have come to that conclusion a year or more ago.
