Also admittedly I actually LIKED the chambray shirts and bell bottoms as work duds. Countless fire training exercises, and other Damage Control drills leaves me wondering what the hell is going on just now.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/militaryreporter.net\/2012\/12\/12\/navy-uniform-will-burn-robustly-until-it-is-consumed\" target=\"_blank\">Navy uniform \u2018will burn robustly until it is consumed\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Navy removed its requirement in 1996 that uniforms had to be flame retardant, and have been providing special uniforms to engine room, flight-related, firefighters and <a title=\"In naval usage, measures necessary aboard ship to preserve and reestablish watertight integrity, stability, maneuverability, and offensive power; to control list and trim; to effect rapid repairs of materiel; to limit the spread of and provide adequate protection from fire; to limit the spread of, remove the contamination by, and provide adequate protection from chemical, biological, and radiological agents; and to provide for care of wounded personnel.\" href=\"http:\/\/militaryreporter.net\/glossary#damage-control\">damage control<\/a> personnel since then. But this means other personnel working in spaces with fuel lines, oil, steam, heat and tons of combustibles overhead, underneath, and in nearby passageways are ready to be robustly barbecued.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sooo&#8230;. in 40 years our Navy has yet to figure out how to utilize self-extinguishing fabrics?
