According to the Stars & Stripes<\/a>‘ Heath Druzin, the Afghan National Security Council has decided that coalition troops are forthwith forbidden to arrest or imprison Afghans;<\/p>\n

The decree stems in part from a spat between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the United Kingdom, whose defense minister said detainees captured by British forces cannot be handed over to Afghan authorities because of fears of ill treatment. Karzai\u2019s statement specifically referenced the dispute and promised to transfer any remaining British prisons to Afghan control.<\/p>\n

It is unclear whether the decree carries the force of law and Karzai\u2019s office did not immediately respond to a Stripes request for comment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, that makes perfect sense, since coalition nations are trying to secure the shithole from criminals and other assorted murderers who the Afghan government, through willful blindness, are unable to identify and detain themselves. <\/p>\n

Who, exactly, is the Karzai government at war with? They seem to be doing their level best to bind the hands of the coalition of nations from battling terrorists, while completely ignoring the fact that the terrorists are killing and violating the civil rights of their own citizens more than the coalition.<\/p>\n

In September, the U.S. handed over control of Parwan prison, a major detention center on Bagram Airfield. But Karzai has publicly criticized the U.S. for continuing to hold a number of prisoners, including Afghans.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, Karzai called for the \u201cfull Afghanization\u201d of the detention center, saying that some prisoners ordered released by the Afghan courts were still being held by U.S. forces.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I guess it’s because the Karzai government has such a stellar record of detaining dangerous prisoners…well, besides the countless escapes of detainees under Afghan control who’ve absconded with the help of their corrupt jailers. And, oh, yeah, the record of the Afghan government releasing dangerous prisoners back into the wild to make nice with the Taliban in hopes that they’ll come to the peace table.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
