Someone sent me some research that he did on a guy he met at a ceremony to dedicate a school in the name of Medal of Honor recipient SFC Paul Ray Smith who was killed in Iraq in 2003. Apparently, our hero was helping to get a memorial together for SFC Smith and he solicited help from local businesses. That’s when this Larry E. Sims shows up and starts telling tall tales about his own service; that he was a Captain in the 101st Airborne Division, that he had three combat tours in the war against terror, a CIB, and two stars on his jump wings. This is what his LinkedIn profile said about his military career;<\/p>\n

That conflicts greatly with his military records;<\/p>\n

Yup, that’s right, he served about five weeks. When confronted with the truth, of course, he apologized for it (because he was caught) and said that he had just been inflating his resume and got carried away. Yeah, it’s not hard to embellish a 5 week military career, but he kind of carried it to the extreme. He had to put those combat jump stars on his jump wings even though the 101st hasn’t had a combat jump since World War II. <\/p>\n
