I\u2019ve written previously (here<\/a>, here<\/a>, and here<\/a>) about recent issues with the US Secret Service.\u00a0 Well, it looks like they\u2019re in the news again.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an old Vietnamese proverb that \u201cA house leaks from the roof.\u201d\u00a0 And in one of my earlier articles, I wrote<\/p>\n

It\u2019s beginning to look like there might well be a leadership problem at the Secret Service. A serious leadership problem.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I hate to say it, but it looks now like that\u2019s indeed the case.<\/p>\n

The DHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has conducted an investigation of the recent incidents of US Secret Service agent misbehavior in Columbia.\u00a0 During that investigation, they appear to have uncovered evidence of serious wrongdoing – by the Director of the US Secret Service himself.<\/p>\n

That DHS OIG investigation reportedly concludes that there is evidence that the Director\u00a0 may have lied in his testimony to Congress<\/a> concerning those recent Secret Service incidents in Columbia.\u00a0 It also reportedly concludes that the Director may have manipulated a report requested by Congress related to the matter.\u00a0 Such conduct would constitute obstruction of justice, and possibly perjury.<\/p>\n

The matter is reportedly being referred to DoJ for further action.\u00a0 The Director of the US Secret Service has also apparently retained private counsel regarding the matter.<\/p>\n

However, if I recall correctly that’s the same DoJ whose current head recently appears to have done essentially the same thing\u00a0 – e.g., gave false or misleading testimony and\/or written statements to Congress regarding “Fast and Furious”.\u00a0 Fast and Furious left people dead.\u00a0 This new incident only caused a little bad publicity.<\/p>\n

So I\u2019m guessing we probably shouldn\u2019t hold our breath waiting for anything significant to happen on this new matter this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
