While France is making plans to withdraw from the war against terror in Afghanistan this year, they’re dealing with homegrown terrorists, says the Associated Press<\/a>;<\/p>\n

In all cases, police suspect Muslim extremists. The Toulouse attacker was a Frenchman trained by Islamist paramilitaries. And anti-terrorist police killed one man and arrested 11 in raids this weekend against an Islamist cell suspected in the Sarcelles attacks.<\/p>\n

French Jews believe the danger comes from radical messages that appeal to young Muslims in France who are unemployed, angry, alienated and looking for someone to blame.<\/p>\n

But France has struggled to address the problem head-on because of the social sensitivities. President Francois Hollande met Sunday with the head of an umbrella group of Muslim organizations, assuring him that the government would not stigmatize all Muslims for anti-Semitic acts committed by a radical fringe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I guess that’s the way you fight terrorism in Europe. Instead of pleading with the Islamic community to help the police root out the “radical fringe”, you placate them and soothe their ruffled sensibilities. Apparently, Muslim youths in france have made Mohamed Merah, the Toulouse shooter who was killed by French police last Spring after he murdered some French soldiers, a bit of a hero and seek to emulate him;<\/p>\n

[French President] Hollande said the jihadist network broken up over the weekend was ready to strike again in coming weeks.
