Now, I don’t want to sound ungrateful, and I love all of the gigs that the American Legion has sent me on, but they have never told me to sit in a bar surrounded by scantily-clad college student waitresses<\/a>, offered an open bar and live blog, but that’s what Pete Hegseth and the Concerned Veterans For America<\/a> have done, and it’s a tough gig. Someone tell Wittgeneld I’m in his neighborhood and unarmed – well except for the 300-pound bouncers.<\/p>\n

Stay tuned to this post and I’ll have pictures and reports until 1am. I already saw a convertible with two pink pigs sitting in the back waving, Pete said there were protesters carrying a Soviet flag who passed by just before I got here. So there might be some fun tonight.<\/p>\n

If you missed Ann Romney’s speech here are some highlights;<\/p>\n

\u2026Tonight I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts.<\/p>\n

I want to talk not about what divides us, but what holds us together as an American family. I want to talk to you tonight about that one great thing that unites us, that one thing that brings us our greatest joy when times are good, and the deepest solace in our dark hours.<\/p>\n

Tonight I want to talk to you about love.<\/p>\n

Mitt’s dad never graduated from college. Instead, he became a carpenter.<\/p>\n

He worked hard, and he became the head of a car company, and then the governor of Michigan.<\/p>\n

I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a \u201cstorybook marriage.\u201d Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer.<\/p>\n

A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage.<\/p>\n

At every turn in his life, this man I met at a high school dance, has helped lift up others. He did it with the Olympics, when many wanted to give up.<\/p>\n

This is the man America needs.<\/p>\n

This is the man who will wake up every day with the determination to solve the problems that others say can’t be solved, to fix what others say is beyond repair. This is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can work a little less hard.<\/p>\n

I can’t tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight, as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment:<\/p>\n

This man will not fail.<\/p>\n

This man will not let us down.<\/p>\n

This man will lift up America!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
