{"id":30346,"date":"2012-06-11T06:15:36","date_gmt":"2012-06-11T10:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=30346"},"modified":"2012-06-11T06:17:06","modified_gmt":"2012-06-11T10:17:06","slug":"about-those-stopped-clocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=30346","title":{"rendered":"About Those Stopped Clocks . . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote a <a href=\" https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=30275\">previous article concerning recent high-level\u00a0 security leaks<\/a>.\u00a0 Given recent developments I suppose I should write a follow-up.<\/p>\n<p>I trust everyone knows by now that the Attorney General <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2012\/06\/09\/holder-prosecutors-have-authority-in-leak-probe-that-reaches-into-white-house\/\">has appointed a pair of attorneys to investigate these leaks<\/a>.\u00a0 That\u2019s exactly what he should have done.<\/p>\n<p>Predictably, the Administration\u2019s political opponents have questioned whether or not these two will be sufficiently \u201cindependent\u201d.\u00a0 Personally, I think that criticism is misguided and out of line.\u00a0 Whether or not they can be sufficiently independent remains to be seen; such questions\u00a0 should IMO wait until there\u2019s some evidence of a reason to make them.<\/p>\n<p>Kudos to the current Administration for doing the right thing in this case.\u00a0 But as always, the \u201cproof is in the pudding\u201d.\u00a0 And\u00a0 I guess I can understand why the Administration&#8217;s opponents might feel the way they do.<\/p>\n<p>The Nixon Administration appointed a special prosecutor to investigate Watergate, too.\u00a0 But when things got to \u201chot\u201d to suit Nixon, the result was the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saturday_Night_Massacre\">\u201cSaturday Night Massacre\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully we won\u2019t see history repeat itself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote a previous article concerning recent high-level\u00a0 security leaks.\u00a0 Given recent developments I suppose I &hellip; <a title=\"About Those Stopped Clocks . . . .\" class=\"hm-read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=30346\"><span class=\"screen-reader-text\">About Those Stopped Clocks . . . .<\/span>Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":623,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-30346","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-politics"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/30346","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/623"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=30346"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/30346\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=30346"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=30346"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=30346"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
