{"id":30104,"date":"2012-05-24T08:39:03","date_gmt":"2012-05-24T12:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=30104"},"modified":"2012-05-24T08:39:30","modified_gmt":"2012-05-24T12:39:30","slug":"the-conundrum-of-the-women-combat-limits-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=30104","title":{"rendered":"The conundrum of the women combat limits lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Let me say at the outset that I think this case is fine.\u00a0 The combat exclusion for women is kind of a dodge anyway, because it isn&#8217;t actually followed.\u00a0 Which is not to say I think women should be SF or anything else.\u00a0 But last month when I was running around, I was doing so with two wonderful young ladies from a CA unit that were patroling with the INF guys.\u00a0 (SSG Booth and I forget the other young ladies name.)\u00a0 So, I think they have a point that the policy isn&#8217;t followed anyway.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2012-05-23\/two-female-soldiers-sue-u-s-defense-secretary-on-combat-policy.html\"> Here&#8217;s the story on the case:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Two female soldiers asked a federal judge to throw out the U.S. military\u2019s restrictions on women in combat, claiming the policy violates their constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Army reservists Jane Baldwin and Ellen Haring, in a lawsuit filed today in <a href=\"http:\/\/topics.bloomberg.com\/washington\/\">Washington<\/a>, said policies excluding them from assignments \u201csolely because they are women\u201d violate their right to equal protection guaranteed by the Constitution\u2019s 5th Amendment.
