Shipley owns &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.extremesealexperience.com\/\">Extreme SEAL Experience<\/a>&#8220;. Shipley and his lawyer, Gene Odom have filed their first law suit against Barry \u201cBear\u201d Silverman, who runs a business called \u201cTactical Deterrence\u201d, Apparently, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pownetwork.org\/phonies\/phonies562.htm\">Silverman is a phony SEAL according to POW Network<\/a> and uses that lie as part of his business model. Shipley says the fake SEAL is hurting his business;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Shipley, a 24-year Navy veteran, spent 19 years as a SEAL before retiring in 2003 as a senior chief petty officer. The suit says his business is being harmed by men falsely claiming to be SEALs; it also claims Silverman is using the likeness of the SEAL trident without permission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe number of new customers has decreased as a result of prospective customers associating the quality of plaintiff\u2019s business with the Defendant\u2019s illegitimate knockoff,\u201d the suit claims.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So whether the Stolen Valor Act passes muster or not at the Supreme Court is irrelevant &#8211; the phonies will get their comeuppance either way.
