{"id":29198,"date":"2012-03-19T21:37:13","date_gmt":"2012-03-20T01:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=29198"},"modified":"2012-03-19T21:39:03","modified_gmt":"2012-03-20T01:39:03","slug":"navy-moh-recipient-dies-at-79","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=29198","title":{"rendered":"Navy MOH Recipient dies at 79"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know I&#8217;m partial to the Navy and Docs.<br \/>\n<a title=\"Navy Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/2012\/03\/marine-medal-of-honor-recipient-william-charette-dies-031912\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Navy Times<\/a> is reporting that retired Master Chief Hospital Corpsman William Charette, Medal of Honor\u00a0recipient, died yesterday at 79 years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"HM Charette\" src=\"http:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/xml\/news\/2012\/03\/marine-medal-of-honor-recipient-william-charette-dies-031912\/031912-william-charette-285.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"285\" height=\"344\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Charette enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and joined Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, which left for Korea in February 1953. It was March 27, 1953, during the Chinese attack on Marine outpost Vegas when Charette threw himself over his patient during a grenade attack, absorbing the blast with his own body, according to the Military Times Hall of Valor.<\/p>\n<p>In separate instances, Charette removed his battle vest to put on a patient, tore parts of his uniform to dress battle wounds and stood up in a trench, braving gunfire, to attend to a patient.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mr. Charette is like the \u00a0soldiers and sailors we know, trust, admire, served with: the kind of men and women we&#8217;re raising our children to be. \u00a0Unlike the filth we&#8217;ve been inundated with lately.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know I&#8217;m partial to the Navy and Docs.
