{"id":28304,"date":"2012-01-12T17:49:27","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T21:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=28304"},"modified":"2012-01-12T17:50:56","modified_gmt":"2012-01-12T21:50:56","slug":"invoking-che-to-sell-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=28304","title":{"rendered":"Invoking Che to sell cars?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Never thought I&#8217;d be citing CBS, but:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/8301-205_162-57356428\/mercedes-channels-che-guevara-for-car-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\">Coming out of Germany?<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0&#8220;Some colleagues still think that car-sharing borders on communism,&#8221; Mercedes-Benz Chairman of the Board of Management Dieter Zetsche said <a title=\"Daimler taking 'auto-mobility' to next level (live blog) -- Tuesday, Jan 10, 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/8301-33369_1-57355722\/daimler-taking-auto-mobility-to-next-level-live-blog\/\">onstage at CES<\/a> today, speaking about Mercedes&#8217; <a title=\"Mercedes wants you to share cars like a Communist -- Tuesday, Jan 10, 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/8301-33369_1-57356266\/mercedes-wants-you-to-share-cars-like-a-communist\/\">new CarTogether initiative<\/a>. &#8220;But if that&#8217;s the case, viva la revolucion!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To be sure, a luxury-car maker like Mercedes is not actually promoting communism. But during his CES talk, Zetsche pushed hard on a vision that the company has for a greener future that allows drivers to reduce emissions by using connected and social technology to easily find compatible passengers to share rides with.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it&#8217;s odd&#8211;and no doubt intended to stir up conversation&#8211;to hear a company so inexorably tied to money and lavish lifestyles invoking philosophies like communism. Especially with a picture of Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara towering over Zetsche as he talked.
