{"id":28124,"date":"2011-12-29T17:47:01","date_gmt":"2011-12-29T21:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=28124"},"modified":"2011-12-29T18:24:13","modified_gmt":"2011-12-29T22:24:13","slug":"good-news-bad-news-in-wva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=28124","title":{"rendered":"Good News, Bad News&#8230; In WVA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finally got a few minutes to look for new news and found this.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/newsandsentinel.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/555625\/Arrest-made-in-museum-break-in.html?nav=5061\" target=\"_blank\">Arrest made in museum break-in<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The ugly bit:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>PARKERSBURG &#8211; Law enforcement officials have made an arrest related to last week&#8217;s break-in at the Mid-Ohio Valley Veterans Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Parkersburg police reported William Joseph Kerns, 24, 506 34th St., Apt. 5B, Vienna, was arrested on a charge of possession of stolen property. Officials discovered Kerns in possession of one firearm and two knives, both confirmed to be property from the museum, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Around $10,000 in artifacts four rifles, a pistol, 10 battle dress uniforms, bayonets and 47 knives for the gift shop &#8211; were stolen from the Seventh Street museum on Dec. 20. Among the items taken was a Beretta recovered on Utah Beach during D-Day in World War believed to have belonged to a German officer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The bit that makes me proud:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Whoever did this is probably about the most hated person in the Mid-Ohio Valley,&#8221; Farris said. &#8220;Everywhere I go; to the post office, the bank; I have had people stop me in the grocery store.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;If this was the old west those guys wouldn&#8217;t be in police custody,&#8221; he said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Emphasis added with a smile.<\/p>\n<p>Parkersburg is my home town. Got family there both above and below ground. But I haven&#8217;t been over there in years, and I&#8217;ve never been to the museum mentioned.
