{"id":28120,"date":"2011-12-29T10:55:24","date_gmt":"2011-12-29T14:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=28120"},"modified":"2011-12-29T11:02:57","modified_gmt":"2011-12-29T15:02:57","slug":"pentagon-to-trim-flag-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=28120","title":{"rendered":"Pentagon to trim flag officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>William sends us a link to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/pentagon-trimming-ranks-of-generals-admirals\/2011\/12\/20\/gIQAhAU7MP_story.html?hpid=z2\">Washington Post<\/a> article which reports that the Pentagon is planning to cut the number of generals and admirals serving.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Pentagon officials said they have eliminated 27 jobs for generals and admirals since March, the first time the Defense Department has imposed such a reduction since the aftermath of the Cold War, when the collapse of the Soviet Union prompted the military to downsize.<\/p>\n<p>The cuts are part of a broader plan to shrink the upper ranks by 10 percent over five years, restoring them to the their size when the country was last at peace, before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While it&#8217;s a good idea, we can all rest assured that they won&#8217;t be firing anyone who needs to be fired.
