It was an honor to serve, and I did it because I believed that bringing freedom to <a id=\"PLGEO0000012\" title=\"Iraq\" href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/topic\/intl\/iraq-PLGEO0000012.topic\">Iraq<\/a> required brave people to stand up and try to make a difference.
