{"id":27130,"date":"2011-10-22T02:40:56","date_gmt":"2011-10-22T06:40:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=27130"},"modified":"2011-10-22T02:40:56","modified_gmt":"2011-10-22T06:40:56","slug":"you-really-want-to-go-down-this-route","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=27130","title":{"rendered":"You really want to go down this route?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In one of the Occupy Wall Street links that is floting around Facebook<a href=\"http:\/\/act.rootsaction.org\/p\/dia\/action\/public\/?action_KEY=4882\"> this one<\/a> is above(below) average that caught my eye. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RGRXCgMdz9A\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nYes, We Have a Permit to Occupy<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Hypocrisy about Occupations<\/p>\n<p>On the morning of October 14, Occupy Wall Street protesters celebrated when New York authorities beat a last-minute retreat from clearing Liberty Plaza \u2013 as hundreds of labor and other activists rushed to defend the square.<\/p>\n<p>But on that same morning, dozens of state troopers in riot gear cleared out Occupy Denver protests. In cities across the country, Occupy protesters have faced police violence, arrests and forcible removal.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities say we don\u2019t have the proper permits to occupy public spaces. <strong>Our permit to occupy is the First Amendment.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Really? Do you really thing this this is even close to a valid argument let along a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\">legal one<\/a>? Lets stop and thing about how all the different groups can use this as a legal reason to behave in anyway that they want. Some how this point is being painfully overlooked. <\/p>\n<p>Oh it gets worse. Its make a useless petition. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To Mayors and Police Chiefs,<\/p>\n<p>OUR PERMIT TO OCCUPY PUBLIC SQUARES AND PARKS IS THE FIRST AMENDMENT, which affirms \u201cthe right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When people across the Middle East occupied public squares, leaders in Washington mostly cheered those protesters and warned Middle Eastern governments not to use force to clear them. Those other societies don\u2019t have a First Amendment. Yet Washington affirmed the universal right to assembly and protest.<\/p>\n<p>We DO have a First Amendment. The force being used to clear nonviolent protesters from public squares in our country is unacceptable. It must stop.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yea and when does it allow you to camp overnight camping?
