{"id":26483,"date":"2011-09-12T09:32:14","date_gmt":"2011-09-12T13:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=26483"},"modified":"2011-09-12T10:40:09","modified_gmt":"2011-09-12T14:40:09","slug":"taking-stolen-valor-to-the-grave-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=26483","title":{"rendered":"Taking Stolen Valor to the Grave; Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Someone sent us some newspaper articles from the Gaston Gazette&#8217;s own archives in regards to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=26475\">Wilburn Carr<\/a>. the first is a notice published in July 1955, two years after the ceasefire in the Korean War;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-drafted-Gastona.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26485\" title=\"Wilburn Carr drafted Gastona\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-drafted-Gastona.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"195\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-drafted-Gastona.jpg 195w, https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-drafted-Gastona-149x300.jpg 149w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>From another article published on April 24, 1953, while the Korean War raged it&#8217;s final months, Wilburn Carr, was 18 according to the Gaston Gazette and arrested for &#8220;aiding and abetting in drunk driving&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-arrest.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26486\" title=\"Wilburn Carr arrest\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-arrest.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-arrest.jpg 882w, https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Wilburn-Carr-arrest-300x231.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hard to imagine Wilburn earning a Purple Heart and a Medal of Honor while being a typical teenager on the streets of Gaston, NC. the person who sent us these articles is much more forgiving than I am in regards to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=26475&#038;cpage=1#comment-542703\">Josh<\/a>. Our tipster, who wishes to remain anonymous, wrote;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hope this helps \u201cJosh\u201d understand more about his grandfather.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>ADDED: <\/strong>And, Josh, the reason that we&#8217;re so cynical is because of people like your grandfather. Zero Ponsdorf&#8217;s father was killed in the Korean War and my father served there in the Navy.
