{"id":26152,"date":"2011-08-11T12:56:33","date_gmt":"2011-08-11T16:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=26152"},"modified":"2011-08-11T12:56:33","modified_gmt":"2011-08-11T16:56:33","slug":"the-rumor-doctor-looks-for-stress-cards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=26152","title":{"rendered":"The Rumor Doctor looks for &#8220;stress cards&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our buddy, Jeff Schogol, known as the &#8220;Rumor Doctor&#8221; at S<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/blogs\/the-rumor-doctor\/the-rumor-doctor-1.104348\/did-the-army-ever-issue-stress-cards-to-recruits-1.151803\">tars &#038; Stripes<\/a> went looking for &#8220;stress cards&#8217; in the halls of mythological beasts;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>More than a few of you have asked The Rumor Doctor to look into the longstanding rumor that the Army once issued \u201cstress cards\u201d for recruits who could not endure the rigors of basic training. Allegedly, these cards provide a reprieve to recruits too tired to exercise or stressed out from being yelled at by a drill sergeant.<\/p>\n<p>This rumor usually comes up when certain folks claim that basic training has become \u201csoft\u201d because today\u2019s recruits are \u201cweak.\u201d Although the stress cards rumor has been disputed several times over the years, it lives on.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know about stress cards, but I used to hand my troops &#8220;tough shit cards&#8221; when they complained. It had little boxes they could get hole-punched by the chaplain.
