Apparently, the prosecutor was prepared to take the death sentence off the table, because Bledsoe was sentenced to life in prison <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2011\/CRIME\/07\/25\/arkansas.recruiter.shooting\/index.html?section=cnn_latest\">according to CNN<\/a>; <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[Abdulhakim Muhammad, formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe] faced 12 charges in total &#8212; capital murder, attempted capital murder and 10 counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle &#8212; according to Stephanie Harris, a spokeswoman with the state court system.<\/p>\n<p>In Arkansas, defendants cannot plead guilty in a case in which the death penalty is a possibility.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors agreed to drop the death penalty in exchange for Muhammad&#8217;s plea, Harris said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now we know why there was <a href=\"http:\/\/arkansasmatters.com\/news-fulltext?nxd_id=445617\">an abrupt end to testimony last week<\/a>&#8230;the prosecutor needed time to cave.<\/p>\n<p>The dude was guilty and the prosecutor had a lock on the death penalty, but he blinked.
