{"id":25911,"date":"2011-07-20T07:10:55","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T11:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=25911"},"modified":"2011-07-20T07:11:35","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T11:11:35","slug":"marine-to-be-awarded-moh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=25911","title":{"rendered":"Marine to be awarded MOH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dakota Meyer has been notified by the President that he will be the third living recipient of the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/2011\/07\/marine-dakota-meyer-medal-of-honor-071911w\/\">Marine Corps Times<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Meyer, who left active-duty service in June 2010 as a corporal, will be honored for his actions Sept. 8, 2009. He charged into a kill zone on foot and alone to find three missing Marines and a Navy corpsman, who had been pinned down under intense enemy fire in Ganjgal, a remote village near the Pakistan border in violent Kunar province.<\/p>\n<p>Already wounded by shrapnel, Meyer found them dead and stripped of their gear and weapons, and helped carry them from the kill zone, according to military documents obtained by Marine Corps Times.<\/p>\n<p>Meyer \u2014 who now lives in Austin, Texas \u2014 could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday night.
