The story about faux-Ranger Harris continues today in the Eastern North Carolina Toda<\/a>y. Despite the fact that most of the Rangers who were in Mogadishu say that Harris was never a member of the unit, Harris mitigates his dishonesty by claiming the journalist wasn’t listening to him;<\/p>\n

Harris said he had 316 confirmed sniper kills, all of which were in the last three years of his service. \u201cI think you had the number of confirmed kills wrong. \u2026 I must have been talking about my overall unit,\u201d Harris told the reporter Tuesday. A review of the interview, recorded on a voice recorder, showed he did, in fact, say 316. [Actual Ranger Raleigh] Cash and [actual Ranger Matt] Eversmann said there\u2019s no truth in the unit having 316 confirmed kills, either. Cash said he believed the record for confirmed sniper kills was about 90 for an individual, and that happened during the Vietnam War.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And Harris’ current job is now in jeopardy;<\/p>\n

A supervisor at Down East Protection Services said he reviewed Harris\u2019 DD214 before he was hired and did not suspect it could have been false.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The journalist got schooled in spotting phonies;<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I did was what they call black ops, and there\u2019s not a lot said about it,\u201d Harris said then. \u201cNone of that is ever made public record.\u201d<\/p>\n

[Actual Ranger Raleigh] Cash said he has heard of about 10 people falsely claiming to have been in Mogadishu and many use \u201cblack ops\u201d as a cover.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s poser 101 \u2014 black ops, secret missions, there\u2019s no record of it,\u201d Cash said. \u201cIf you ever hear that, that person is completely full of poop. That kind of stuff doesn\u2019t happen. There\u2019s a record. There\u2019s always a record.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Another flag is the “my records were burned in the National Archives fire”.<\/p>\n

Our buddy, Doug Sterner chimes in;<\/p>\n

Harris claimed his DD214 stated he had won two Silver Stars, which cannot be true, according to Sterner. \u201cThere have only been two people since the Vietnam War who have received two Silver Stars,\u201d Sterner said. \u201cOnly one was in the Army \u2026 and he was killed in action.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
