Vince Cefalu, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent who blew the whistle on the disastrous operation now known as “Fast and Furious” has been terminated by the bureau. He claims that it’s because he came forward to end the operation, according to Fox News; <\/p>\n
\u201cAside from Jay Dobyns, I don’t know of anyone that’s been more vocal about ATF mismanagement than me,\u201d said Cefalu, a senior special agent based in Dublin, Calif. \u201cThat’s why this is happening.\u201d Dobyns, an ATF special agent based in Tucson, has appeared several times on Fox News to discuss the scandal.<\/p>\n
Cefalu first told FoxNews.com about the ATF\u2019s embattled anti-gun smuggling operation in December, before the first reports on the story appeared in February. \u201cSimply put, we knowingly let hundreds of guns and dozens of identified bad guys go across the border,\u201d Cefalu said at the time.<\/p>\n
Since then, Cefalu\u2019s claims have been vindicated, as a number of agents with first-hand knowledge of the case came forward. The scandal over Project Gunrunner led to congressional hearings, a presidential reprimand \u2013 Obama called the operation \u201ca serious mistake\u201d \u2013 and speculation that ATF chief Ken Melson will resign.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
