{"id":22781,"date":"2011-04-01T13:04:46","date_gmt":"2011-04-01T17:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=22781"},"modified":"2011-04-01T13:04:46","modified_gmt":"2011-04-01T17:04:46","slug":"bill-to-insure-troops-get-paid-in-case-of-shut-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=22781","title":{"rendered":"Bill to insure troops get paid in case of shut down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jeff sent us a link to an article in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/blogs\/stripes-central\/stripes-central-1.8040\/bill-would-ensure-troops-get-paid-if-government-shuts-down-1.139740\">Stars &#038; Stripes<\/a> about Congress moving to pass a bill which will insure the troops are paid in case they shut down the government in the upcoming budget battle;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhen we heard that the military was concerned about whether or not they would get paid on time, then we rushed through and we got this bill done,\u201d [Louie Gohmert, R-Texas] said at a news conference on Friday. \u201cWe\u2019re getting widespread support. We\u2019ve got people in the Senate wanting to carry it over there and get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The normal philosophical divisions that divide Republicans and Democrats do not apply to the issue of making sure troops get paid, said U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., who is co-sponsoring the bill.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I remember when the government shut down briefly during the Reagan  Administration while I was on leave between assignments. It was a pretty distressing time.
