Of course, I remember when the Democrats were the Hawks in Congress back in the mid-60s trying to overcome the Republican charge that they’d “lost China” to the communists in 1948. That’s why Johnson was eager to jump into Vietnam with both feet using the Gulf of Tonkin incident as an excuse. But according to NewsBusters<\/a>, even Howard Dean has jumped on the “Rush-to-War-In-Libya Bus”;<\/p>\n

DEAN: I don’t think you stay out of these things. You can’t if you’re the most powerful country in the world . . . You have to take chances.<\/p>\n

KLEIN: That’s not what you were saying in 2003!<\/p>\n

DEAN: That’s because we were lied to about what we were doing . . . we were lied to about the WMD.<\/p>\n

I wonder if Dean will tell us he was “lied to” when our involvement in Libya goes beyond what the President called “a few days”. It’s already been “a few days” and we’ve already lost an aircraft (to malfunction…ya know, like in Desert One).<\/p>\n
