{"id":22613,"date":"2011-03-17T12:27:27","date_gmt":"2011-03-17T16:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=22613"},"modified":"2011-03-17T12:27:47","modified_gmt":"2011-03-17T16:27:47","slug":"too-little-too-late-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=22613","title":{"rendered":"Too little, too late"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So while Gaddafi (or however you spell his name this week) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2011\/WORLD\/africa\/03\/17\/libya.civil.war\/index.html?eref=rss_mostpopular\">finishes up combat operations against the rebels<\/a> in Libya, the UN moves with lightening speed to catch up to facts on the ground there as they existed early last week. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2011\/mar\/17\/libya-air-strikes-urged-us-un\">In The Guardian<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Washington&#8217;s ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, urges the security council to pass a new resolution authorising aerial bombing of Muammar Gaddafi&#8217;s tanks.<\/p>\n<p>The US is pushing the UN to authorise not just a no-fly zone over Libya, but also the use of air strikes to stop the advance of forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi.<\/p>\n<p>Washington&#8217;s ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, said on Wednesday that a no-fly zone would have only a limited use, and that the Obama administration was working &#8220;very hard&#8221; to pass a new resolution, which would authorise the use of aerial bombing of Libyan tanks and heavy artillery.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah, it seems to me that it&#8217;s a little too late. If the goal of the civilized world was to remove Gaddafi, it seems thoroughly blown. Sure we could start targeting Gaddafi&#8217;s supporters and their tanks, but wouldn&#8217;t that just be a war like Afghanistan where we loaned air support to the Northern Alliance?
