{"id":22600,"date":"2011-03-16T10:16:57","date_gmt":"2011-03-16T14:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=22600"},"modified":"2011-03-16T10:16:57","modified_gmt":"2011-03-16T14:16:57","slug":"ca-to-become-shall-issue-state-for-politicians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=22600","title":{"rendered":"CA to become &#8220;shall issue&#8221; state &#8211; for politicians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2011\/mar\/15\/guns-for-us-not-for-you\/\"> Washington Times<\/a> has an editorial in today&#8217;s edition about two Democrat legislators in California who&#8217;ve introduced legislation to &#8220;shall issue&#8221; concealed weapon permits for California legislators;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ordinary Californians who want a concealed carry permit need to apply to the local sheriff. In practice &#8211; outside of conservative, rural counties &#8211; only celebrities and the well-connected end up obtaining the coveted document. In a state of nearly 37 million, about 40,000 permits were issued in 2007. The proposal being offered by a pair of pro-gun state Senate Democrats would automatically define as eligible for a permit \u201cany applicant who is a member of Congress, a statewide elected official or a Member of the Legislature.\u201d These could carry a gun \u201cfor purposes of protection or self-defense.\u201d Coddled lawmakers living in gated communities may think they face heightened risk, but it\u2019s unlikely poor residents in sketchy urban neighborhoods have any less of a need.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One more example of the growing chasm between the governed and their representatives.
