{"id":22487,"date":"2011-03-04T10:18:51","date_gmt":"2011-03-04T14:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=22487"},"modified":"2011-03-04T10:18:51","modified_gmt":"2011-03-04T14:18:51","slug":"sailor-busted-for-espionage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=22487","title":{"rendered":"Sailor busted for espionage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/navy\/sailor-charged-with-espionage-attempting-to-sell-classified-information-1.136625\">Stars &#038; Stripes<\/a> reports that Petty Officer 2d Class Bryan Minkyu Martin has been charged with four counts of attempted espionage along with eleven charges of mishandling classified information. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Martin accepted $3,500 from an undercover FBI agent in exchange for dozens of pages of documents that were classified either secret or top secret, according to a 2010 warrant filed in Eastern District Court in North Carolina and obtained by the AP.<\/p>\n<p>During the initial Nov. 15 meeting with the undercover agent at a Hampton Inn near Fort Bragg, N.C., Martin told the agent his current assignment focused on Afghanistan, and that he would one day work for the Defense Intelligence Agency, according to the warrant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMartin stated that over his prospective 15 to 20 year career, he could be very valuable,\u201d the warrant says, according to AP.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although the four counts of espionage qualifies Martin for the grand prize of the death penalty, the military rarely seeks capital punishment.
