{"id":22266,"date":"2011-02-14T09:57:33","date_gmt":"2011-02-14T13:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=22266"},"modified":"2011-02-14T09:57:33","modified_gmt":"2011-02-14T13:57:33","slug":"caregivers-still-waiting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=22266","title":{"rendered":"Caregivers still waiting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m sure we all remember the president signing the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act last summer. it was supposed to offset expenses incurred by the families of wounded soldiers who provided primary care. At the time the President called the program a &#8220;major step forward in America&#8217;s commitment to families and caregivers who tend to our wounded warriors every day.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Well, that major step forward hasn&#8217;t been accomplished yet according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2011\/02\/13\/AR2011021303455.html?hpid=topnews\">Washington Post<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But the Department of Veterans Affairs has since missed the Jan. 31 deadline for fully implementing the program, leaving the families of wounded troops to wonder when the promised help will arrive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were really excited that somebody was taking us seriously and finally understanding the sacrifices we are making,&#8221; Christine Schei said. She left her job several years ago to care for her son, Erik, who was rendered helpless by a sniper&#8217;s bullet in Iraq. &#8220;We were counting down to the end of January to begin receiving these benefits. Now it looks like they haven&#8217;t even begun.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hey! They all stood around and clapped each other on the back and speechified about how wonderful they are, did you really expect more than that from the Democrats of the Obama Administration?
