Somehow, David Shear of the Washington Post<\/a> has declared that yesterday was the best day so far of the President’s term;<\/p>\n

Thursday was, arguably, the best day of Barack Obama’s presidency in many, many months.<\/p>\n

For the first time in more than 12 weeks, oil stopped gushing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. And in a less-than-dramatic ending, the U.S. Senate gave final passage to Wall Street reform that had been proclaimed dead more times than health-care legislation.<\/p>\n

Taken together, the twin victories provide a much-needed boost to a president who is increasingly viewed with skepticism by a public that once thought he could do no wrong. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Twin victories? Did Obama plug the well? How is BP doing something finally about the gushing leak become a victory for Obama? He’s been dodging, rightly so, any responsibility for the leak, but plugging it is a victory for him?<\/p>\n

I can’t wait until he starts blaming someone else for the failures of his Wall Street reform – because it’s going to fall on the shoulders of us little investors to pay for regulation, probably through increased taxes and increased fees at the trading desk. We don’t know how it’ll impact us because we haven’t had a chance to read it yet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
