Detectives Investigating \u201cSelf-Defense\u201d Shooting in South Seattle<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nSeattle police detectives are investigating the shooting of a 33-year-old man in South Seattle last night.<\/p>\n

On Feb. 12 at 6:29 p.m., patrol responded to a shooting in the 3800 block of South Angeline Street. There, officers found a man outside with a gunshot wound to his chest. Police and firefighters provided him with medical aid. Medics took him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.<\/p>\n

Police interviewed witnesses, photographed the scene, and collected video evidence.<\/p>\n

Shortly thereafter, the 27-year-old shooter called 911 and reported his involvement. Police found him nearby and arrested him, recovering his firearm. Officers took him to SPD Headquarters and Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) detectives interviewed him.<\/p>\n

Police determined that the 33 year old forced his way into his ex-girlfriend\u2019s apartment and assaulted her new boyfriend, the armed 27 year old. He then shot the ex-boyfriend in \u201cself-defense,\u201d according to GVRU.<\/p>\n

Once detectives completed their interview, they released the shooter from police custody.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
