Remember Paul Kanjorsky<\/a>? He’s the guy who spilled the beans that Democrats knew they couldn’t stop the war in 2006, but used it as a wedge to fool voters into giving them control of Congress anyway. I wrote about it here<\/a>. Well, Jeff Emmanuel<\/a> (by way of Ace of Spades<\/a>) catches him making up for telling the truth by lying on the floor of Congress in this clip;<\/p>\n

In February 2007, Kanjorski went to the floor of the House to say:<\/p>\n

Ms. Speaker, I rise today to join the overwhelming majority of the American people, the Congress, and many top U.S. military commanders to voice my opposition to President Bush’s ill-conceived plan to send more American troops into the middle of an ongoing Civil War in Iraq<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then, in an interview from just days ago, Kanjorski said:<\/p>\n

We’ve taken public positions which have now forced the president to go into the surge mentality, which is somewhat working<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Recently, it was his unfortunate honesty that hurt him; this time, it will be that honesty combined with a penchant for duplicitousness that will come back to haunt him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Now, if “surge mentality” means “ignoring the spittle-slinging morons in Congress and do what it takes to win the war”, then Kanjorski is correct, they did force the president to go into the surge mentality, but somehow I don’t think that’s how he meant it.<\/p>\n

We’ve seen the same scenario played out before. Remember how the Clintonistas bragged that their guy was the first-ever president to have the courage to reform welfare? Even now, they tout the fact that Clinton “balanced the budget” and they call themselves “fiscally responsible”.
