In an article the New York Post reprinted from a \u00a0Fox News lady, Sarah Rumpf-Whitten, (want to make sure she gets full credit)\u00a0 there was one predominant demographic at the No Kings marches held nationwide last weekend: college-educated white liberal women in their ’40s.<\/p>\n

At last weekend\u2019s \u201cNo Kings\u201d protest in\u00a0Washington, D.C.,\u00a0inflatable chickens bobbed above a crowd that, according to demographic research, was made up mostly of educated White women in their 40s.<\/p>\n

Psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert said the \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests were a snapshot of an era when emotional catharsis and civic activism have begun to blur.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing is a kind of group therapy playing out in the streets,\u201d he told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

The protest, which drew thousands to the nation\u2019s capital and similar rallies across the country, was aimed at denouncing what participants described as\u00a0President Donald Trump\u2019s \u201ckingship\u201d\u00a0and blatant authoritarianism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Guess they missed that if he was a blatant authoritarian, there would have BEEN no marches. Do they not know how that works?<\/p>\n

Group therapy in the streets… which implies someone needs<\/em> therapy…\u00a0 hmmm. By now a male author would have been pelloried, true?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018No Kings\u2019 movement allows people to feel belonging and community,\u201d Alpert said. \u201cSharing grievances with like-minded people feels good, but it doesn\u2019t necessarily change anything.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dunno about that – they wanted “No Kings”, we don’t have a king –\u00a0 mission accomplished, right? But seriously.<\/p>\n

That fleeting catharsis, Alpert added, can also mask something darker.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of times people are unhappy in their own lives,\u201d he said. \u201cThey may have anxiety or anger, and they project that onto others. That\u2019s partly what we\u2019re seeing play out at these rallies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are craving community, and this gives them a place to channel that. They\u2019re surrounded by others who validate how they feel, and that validation can be addictive,\u201d he said. \u201cSome protesters are equating the \u2018No Kings\u2019 movement with the Civil Rights Movement. In their minds, there\u2019s an equivalency, but there really isn\u2019t. They want to be part of something historically meaningful, and that longing can distort perspective.\u201dNY Post<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
