\u2018He showed no mercy\u2019: Gunman in Los Angeles disarmed, beaten by victim<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAn attempted armed robbery in West Hollywood went horribly wrong for a would-be thief who targeted a retired wrestler, according to one witness.<\/p>\n

The incident, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department, occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 900 block of North Sweetzer Avenue.<\/p>\n

The victim, who did not want to be identified, told responding deputies that a man in a dark-colored sedan was driving down the street at a high rate of speed when he suddenly stopped the vehicle near the location where he and his girlfriend had been walking.<\/p>\n

Patrick McCloskey was working from home when he heard a woman screaming from the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe chaos was so intense, I didn\u2019t know who jumped who,\u201d he explained. \u201cI ran to the door to see what was happening. At that point, I hear her yell, \u2018Get the gun, get the gun!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigators said the masked suspect exited his vehicle holding a handgun and demanded the victim\u2019s Rolex watch. The victim refused to comply, and the two men began struggling.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he didn\u2019t know that the guy was a retired wrestler,\u201d McCloskey told KTLA\u2019s John Fenoglio. \u201cSo, he was able to get the gun off the guy and wrestle him down.\u201d<\/p>\n

In footage of the incident, the victim is heard telling a deputy that he took the gunman\u2019s wrist and put the man on the ground before taking the gun away. As his girlfriend threw the gun over a nearby fence, the retired wrestler held the suspect down until law enforcement arrived.<\/p>\n

During the struggle, a second male suspect exited the vehicle but then quickly got back in and fled the area before deputies arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was told the gun was loaded,\u201d McCloskey said. \u201cThe guy who is sort of the hero in all of this, who was able to pin the guy down, told me he saw a bullet in the chamber.\u201d<\/p>\n

The victim, according to the WeHo resident, showed no mercy as the attempted robber struggled.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt one point, the guy\u2019s arm got dislocated, and he just held him down,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No Charges Filed After 83-Year-Old Benson Man Shoots Grandson In Apparent Self-Defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

BENSON \u2013 An 83-year-old Benson man will not face charges after allegedly shooting his grandson Wednesday evening in what police believe was an act of self-defense.<\/p>\n

Benson Police responded to a reported shooting at 5:44 p.m. at 101 East Kennedy Circle. When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was transported to WakeMed for treatment and was listed in stable condition at last report.<\/p>\n

According to investigators, the elderly resident of the home fired a shotgun at his grandson during an altercation, injuring him.<\/p>\n

After reviewing the case with the Johnston County District Attorney\u2019s Office, authorities determined that no charges would be filed at this time, citing evidence consistent with self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
