Prosecutor: Colerain Township shooting ruled self-defense; 2 face tampering charges<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA shooting that resulted in the death of a man has been ruled justified as self-defense, according to a review by the Hamilton County Prosecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Colerain police gave an update on the Aug. 16 shooting, saying, following an investigation, the shooting was ruled legally justified under Ohio law regarding self-defense.<\/p>\n

Police said an argument led to the shooting, resulting in the death of 42-year-old Matthew McDaniel.<\/p>\n

Two men however are facing felony charges for tampering with evidence after attempting to hide firearms.<\/p>\n

Police say an investigation determined Perez Crossty, 37, allegedly attempted to conceal his firearm following the incident. He has been charged with tampering with evidence. Crossty was originally named a suspect in a police report, but didn’t specify any charges.<\/p>\n

A second man, 26-year-old David Heimpold, has also been charged, accused of removing a firearm from the scene that had been in McDaniel\u2019s possession at the time of the shooting in an effort to conceal it from law enforcement. Heimpold has also been charged with tampering with evidence.<\/p>\n

Both Crossty and Heimpold were taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center following their arrests.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
